Today, People Serving Empowering Communities had the opportunity to gift students at Continuing Opportunities for Purposeful Education (C.O.P.E.) Center North with Easter baskets filled with teen essentials.
C.O.P.E Center North is a school located in Miami Dade County which provides young mothers and their children the opportunity to enroll in school at no cost. While mothers are studying, their babies are being cared for in the school’s nursery. This gives the teen mothers an opportunity to feel comfortable, be responsible caring parents, while simultaneously getting assistance to continue working towards their academic and post-secondary goals, by meeting the Miami-Dade County Schools curriculum.
When speaking with representatives from C.O.P.E Center North on how our organization could help serve the school, we were informed that the school often times receive donations for the babies and the mothers are often forgotten about. With this information in mind, we were impassioned with the desire to do something for these young mothers.
Knowing that these young mothers needed the essentials, we blessed all 50 of the young mothers with Easter Essential baskets.
The Easter Essential baskets were filled with all of the necessities that every young teen needs, such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, body wash, and more.
Following our donation, we received a letter of appreciation from C.O.P.E. Center North.
We are truly thankful that we at People Serving Empowering Communities were able to serve today!
